Parrots have no vocal cords. Humans have a larynx, the parrots have a syrinx. Same as the songbirds and the corvid (crow) family, the mynah birds and the Australian lyrebird.

Parrots interact through body language. Parrots are capable of showing extreme emotions. But unlike humans, parrots often express their feelings through body language. If you want to interact well with a parrot, learn the meaning of their body language signals. We also use body language to communicate. Because our vocabulary reaches thousands of words, we sometimes disregard body language. Parrots are not the only birds capable of learning to imitate sounds. There are other birds too who can "talk" including crows, ravens, Indian Ringneck Parakeets, Budgies and Cockatiels.
